Subtidal is a family business in a suburb of Los Angeles enjoying proximity to the west facing beaches. We benefit almost daily from a strong off shore breeze blowing away the haze of the marine layer. We are inspired by the resulting sunshine lighting up our world with intense color. Utilizing the artistry of a centuries old Japanese dye process known as Shibori, we transform silk, wool, cotton, linen, and hemp into glistening works of art, reminiscent of the organic beauty found in the magical, always wet, Subtidal zone.
